Try a gentle lead/ head harness. Took my adult rescue fox hound some getting used to but now I keep my skin on my hands

Sleeping through the night, getting the hang of house and crate training.
I’ve also been socialising him by carrying him in a shoulder bag – odd bus/train ride, out to see traffic, into town etc etc. First few times he was totally fine. Last couple of times he has struggled in the bag and not been super happy about being out. Do I need to take it more slowly? Thinking of slowing down for a couple of days and concentrating on basic play and obedience, then trying again. Any advice gratefully received!

So much as we want to socialise we are a little bit limited though we do our best!

Absolutely right Karen 🙂 Our articles on socialisation explain the importance of taking everything at the puppy’s pace and avoiding causing him stress

That’s a shame, we socialise all our puppies in the village pub, and I’ve never been to a fete that had rules about puppies in arms. Perhaps you’ve been unlucky. The kinds of shopping malls to carry puppies through are the open ended ones with lots of shops inside. You won’t be allowed in a closed mall.

People have a to remember socialising is a pleasurable experience and not being put in a situation which they have to tolerate.
