That’s heartbreaking. I have 2 mals and they need alot of attention and stimulation to keep them from becoming bored and chewing.

With good training they are so loyal and protective. Quite quickly we got them off treat reward and onto ball reward. Thor will do anything you ask for his ball. And as for rhea she is so agile she jump on the side of a trampoline to get on a 12 foot wall and jump into the next garden to get the ball that went over the fence.

I can.have these of the lead as the recall is spot on and will sit at the side of me when barking dogs walk past. They don’t react but do watch the owner and the dog.

I also have a severly disabled child and these pair are wonderful with him. They sense something is not right and protect him fiercely. He can almost strangle thor giving him a cuddle and he just licks his face.

Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t trust any dog on thier own around kids as you just don’t know.

Anyway if you want an active lifestyle and loyal protective dog a mal is a perfect choice. They just keep going, you will run out of steam before they do.

Owe and they don’t like being couped up all day on there own.

She is bored and anxious and barks all day. When I hear her anxious bark at the gate for her “family”, I call to her so she can at least give me her protective bark which I figure gives her something to do.

I have talked to the adult daughter of the family and she has straight up lied to me about the dog. When they come home and park in the driveway she runs to the gate they walk past her without even acknowledging her. I see too much as my office window looks out on it. I’m so sad for this pup, and her nonstop barking drives me nuts.

I was thinking about buying some kind of puzzle to at least occupy her for a little bit but the family would have to take on filling it and giving it to her. Any advice is appreciated.

He is our third Malinois mix.

He’s afraid of dogs and people he does not know if they startle him. We are working on that, and he’s actually made some pretty good progress.

After a couple of years of daily training (yes, daily – and being kicked out of a couple of different obedience classes), he is actually pretty controllable and absolutely loving and affectionate with family members – including our 13-year-old cat and our female year-old GSD pup.

He loves taking walks, meeting people and other dogs that are being handled properly by responsible owners. But just to be on the safe side, we have him wear an electric collar whenever we have him out any place where another dog might run up to him. I rarely have to use it.

Will he ever be a Golden Retriever? Absolutely not. But he is a super-bright very loving pet/companion. And we love him dearly.

If you like an active breed that thrives on supervision and training, Mals are as good as it gets.

Have a convo with him. Obviously the Mal hasn’t any training with children. If he isn’t open to it then it may be time for your daughter to make a parental decision to Remove her child and herself. Don’t call animal control. Most ppl can’t own Mals let alone train them. My girl will let kids jump on her head. Doesn’t mean I just let kids go uncontrolled. Kids need to be trained to respect dogs as well.

I can name 100 dogs that attack people. Not all are Mals. Point is, blame the owner not the dog.

Josh next time you see dog like this dont atemp to play through holes. This is not a puddle that is running around waiting for you to play with her. Being stranger and thinking that this dog will play with you was a very stupid idea. Unfortunately because of your stupidity dog got hit by a iron club. You guys are glad that this dog didnt eat your dad alive after he hit him. So sad. I hope you and your family learned the lesson with dogs

He’s my big baby but I’m very cautious when other people are around because I don’t trust him with other people. But he’s extremely protective of me to the point where if he’s in the house somebody cannot sit next to me they have to sit on the other end of the couch
But even though he’s a little crazy and he’s getting old and gray I still love him and I’m hoping he lives a long life
But these dogs especially dogs that have been from the military or the police department they have triggers they have PTSD so you have to be aware of what you’re getting when you get them and I don’t suggest families with children or other dogs or don’t have a lot of property ever adopt a Belgian malinois.
