Thanks for making the process simpler. Would this work for a group of dogs say 13 of them ranging from small to large breed?

That’s wonderful Michelle, well done for all your hard work training her, and I’m so pleased that your dog is okay 🙂

I have a young Labrador Retriever who is mostly trained – except unfortunately for recall. Tonight she got out when we were giving my husband an early Father’s Day present in the garage. She went out to the driveway and saw a neighbor’s car backing out of their driveway and took off after it. The neighbor most likely wouldn’t have even seen her. My children called out to her but she kept going. I yelled her magic word from inside the garage (I hadn’t even made it out to the driveway yet) and my boys said she stopped dead in her tracks, turned around and ran to me!! I gave her oodles of her special treats that we reserve for magic word use and thanked heaven for the day that I read your article. I already have a copy of Total Recall, but haven’t read it yet. I’m going to get started on that training right away. Thanks so much, Pippa! I hate to think what would have happened without your help!

I’m reading your Total Recall book (in preparation for getting a cocker pup) and had a question about recall generally but also for the emergency recall. My husband and I both work from home and will both be involved with the dog. I’d like her to learn to recall/emergency recall to both of us. Do I need to start with just me and introduce my husband later? Or can we share the training so we are both viewed the same?

I love your training style. I have your puppy book too!

I also want to teach a word that means “we’re going for a car ride” since that never fails to get them back if they do get out of the front of the house.

Arthur, now 15 months and while he is generally pretty good with his recall, if there’s a squirrel or a pond he has been known to go stone deaf! Will start working on our emergency recall this weekend!
