This has happened to me today, I am devastated. I would appreciate anyways feedback from their experience in a similar situation.

Shaving on show dogs is done very selectively and a lot is hand plucked and manually trimmed with scissors. There is a lot of work that goes into grooming for shows and we often start planning and prepping our coat care months beforehand. Dogs that have been fully clipped are more difficult when it comes to show grooming and require extra conditioning, more complex trims, more regular brushing out etc. Shaving is reserved for a few select areas. We are more conservative with ours and a lot is left on or trimmed with scissors but others will do bigger areas or use it instead of hand plucking.]]> In reply to LuAnn🐶🐴🐱🐮🐞.

Do I need to get both a rake and a furminator ? They look different but appear to be doing the same thing. I’m getting confused 🙂
My Cocker x Cavi is only 6 months old. The slicker brush we have seems to be painful for him – are the plastic tipped ones also ok?

Heyy… they don’t really shave down into the areas where the undercoat is. From what I remember they do the head, ears and neck area to emphasize stature.

Hi
Sorry to hear that your spaniel has been scalped.
Ever since we brought our puppy home, we put a very small hot water bottle in bed with her, make sure it has a cover on it so it will not be to hot for your dog. We found it was comfort for her as a pup and kept her lovely and warm.
Hope this helps.

He can't stop shivering!!! I doubled his sweaters, but am going to get him a winter coat. I'm afraid to put electric blanket in his crate he might chew it. I'm tempted to crochet him some ear cozies. Any suggestions!!???]]> My groomer scalped (shaved too close) my whole cocker spaniel!!! 😮😮😥😥 Even his ears! He can’t stop shivering!!! I doubled his sweaters, but am going to get him a winter coat.
