I am now on my 8th and 9th STD POODLES. Grazie is my first female, too smart for her own good. I used “G” to represent that they are a German breed but , when I saw on Next Door a 13 week old STD needed to be rehomed from the Paradise Camp fire, I jumped in the car and drove through the black smoke. I usually have 2 STD’s at the same time because they cannot be left alone. My daughter named him Phoenix..rising from the ashes….and he is a Momma’s Boy. Grazie is a NICE alpha . Nevertheless less, she IS an alpha. All My STD”s have lived to be at least 16. No people food, a regular routine, at least 2 walks daily…and my grands come over and play with them too. I make sure they get any/all vaxes needed. They get groomed every 4 weeks. When I travel, they go to a home with a small kennel. My entire family have STD Poodles. They don’t shed BUT!! They can open doors, so use a dead bolt,lol.

I was given a black mini poodle – who kept growing, and growing….and growing. Now is 24”/60cm at shoulders and weights over 18kg…….breeder was breeding mini and standards- I think a standards dad got to a mini mum. I originally number him Hova-(hoover) like the vacuum……except I accidentally called him Nova one night ….. and the bugger answered. So he is now NOVA. His little sister is Lily – not happy that name. We had a visiting pup that was called peaches- which is what I wish lily had been named- she not LADY at all. You would believe the 4kg mini roughs up the 18kg standard- funniest thing I have ever seen. He (nova) actually begs for a rest.

In reply to LuvAdane2. Thank you for sharing your sweet story. Sadly, there are so many good dogs who get euthanized because there aren't enough homes for them. This is why i started fostering for a rescue. I have the space and time and it's been very rewarding. It doesn't cost a thing either, the rescue provides everything the dogs need until they are adopted.

So sorry, my 17 year old,toy poodle died last week.
It is unbearable, isn’t it?
We hope to adopt a red toy puppy in a few weeks.
