I just lost my schnug Dumplin he was a great baby. I miss him so much. I can’t even try to describe him. He went everywhere with me. He would even jump in the shower sometimes.

She was in a home where she was being kicked my the so called man of the house. Locked up in a room where she couldn’t go out the women was bed ridden. She put something like puppy pads on the floor to pee and poop on. I have no idea for how long. She howls if I step out, I have to be careful when I walk her. She tries to attack other dogs She doesn’t care how big. She turned 11 in August. She tries to get other people who are walking there dogs. This morning I had to bring her back in the apartment. I am 68 and get less than 900 a month social security. I am disabled also.. The old owner pays most of the vet bills. I have to take her back again she had a infection in her boobs so bad that they were leaking puss and blood. I had to have a operation and it took me 3 weeks to heal. She came back to.me sick. Now since she was never fixed the infection is back.
She has to go back to the vet again to be put back on more antibiotics. I have to feed her by hand. The first visit the vet had to give her a IV for fluids and had to be forced fed. Now I can’t leave her sight at all. I don’t know what to do. this with the way she acts now
This message is for people who get dogs they don’t take care of. It is not fair to the dog or to the person who takes them. I am at a loss on what to do

Just an additional piece of info. Happy my Schnug, started indicating to my blood glucose extremes on his own, shortly after my husband died. Since I am a dog trainer, I enlisted some of my fellow trainers to proof Happy, and we finally got him certified as my Diabetes Indicating Service Dog. He has saved my life 3 times since. (my blood Glucose can crash, since i have been managing my diabetes medication free for the last year, if I forget to eat, it can cause a problem) Happy is an amazing dog, and i consider myself blessed to have him!

Being a dog trainer, I usually make it a practice to get a new puppy soon enough that his new friend (my older boy Beau in this case) can help the new pup learn by serving as a guide to what’s expected of him

I looked for a rescue Schnauzer for a few months, with no luck. I got an email from a friend about Happy. Seems a puppy mill in TN had been cleared out by ASPCA, and Happy and his littermates had been brought to NH by a rescue transport. I went north to meet Happy and the others. My usual routine for starting to winnow out “my” puppy, is to sit on the middle of the floor, and watch to see which pups are interested in me, vs being shy or distracted. I have the rescue volunteer gather all the pups to a spot a way from me… once she’s back away I (still sitting on the floor) then say with a bright and happy voice “ Pup-pup-puppy” the first pup to turn and look at me, or better yet, come to me. That’s my dog, usually.

I check the pups out physically, making sure that everyone is heathy and alert. I do this AFTER my puppy interest test. I do it in this order, so that my handling won’t affect the outcome of my test. After I’ve examined every one of the puppies, I can leave, them return the next day, if possible, and repeat the test. Most of the time, I get the same result and that’s my pup. Of course, sometimes ALL the puppies come right over. Then I handle/examine them, and recall. That weeds out the pups pretty well

Jerry I was sorry to hear you lost your dog to heart issues. Were you feeding a grain free food. I recently got a link from the FDA advising that dogs on grain free diets were dying of dilated cardiomyopathy. You might want to investigate this if that was your food option

I’ve owned & loved an array of dogs (different breeds) over the years however what sets my Schnug apart is his deep love & overt devotion from day one, coupled with his constant (almost co-dependent) desire to be right next to me. I am a Schnug lover for life!

I am a dog trainer/owner and I find the breed is energetic and lots of fun. Happy (my Schnug) has been participating in Agility training and competing,

Amazingly, Happy has also, on his own, begun alerting to my blood sugar spikes and drops. He is now certified as my Diabetes Alert Service Dog, and has already saved my life at least twice that we know of.

In the last 2 months, Happy has flown all over the USA with me, the flight crews love him, and one crew “pinned him” with wings on his service harness.

I attended a beadworkers conference at Southpoint casino and conference center in Las Vegas, NV. The feedback we got from many participants, was that Happy was a wonderful addition to the conference, and welcome again anytime.

She is a darling little dog who thinks she is a human. She bark talks to us all time. We just love her. She started out black with a small amount of white on her chest. She now has a small amount of tan and her legs have lots of grey wavy hair. She is a good mix of Pug and Schnauzer.

He is friendly with everyone,LOVES to play fetch, is very affectionate and is very smart! I would agree with the article except he is even friendly with strangers. Although he is now 6yrs old he really (knock wood) hasn’t had any health issues. He loves to run and also play hide and seek with his toys?

We are a retired elderly couple and really miss the companionship..Feels like our hearts are going to break. If you or anyone else knows of Schnug puppy, please let us know. My wife has raised numerous dogs and cats from birth. We are on a fixed income and don’t have a lot of money to throw around , but we dearly miss our Sable……………..
