I have a GSD Pitt mix and he is hands down the most incredible dog I’ve owned. He is so sweet and goofy! And absolutely brilliant, I swear he trains himself as silly as it sounds. He picks up on phrases I use often which eventually turn into commands when I finally notice he has picked up on my phrase. He’s also picked up on my routines- he knows when I’m done applying makeup because I spray my face as the last step (just as one example).
He loves to rip up toys. I am in awe watching how he’s honed in on a technique to rip up the toy to get to the squeaker quickly. But even though he has quite the “kill technique” to destroy his toys, he’s also a gentle sweet giant. My cats and my rabbit love to snuggle with him. They seek him out to nap with.
He also created a job for himself. He picked up on the sound of the cats clawing on the couch and started herding them away when he hears them. And he does the same with my rabbit when he’s up to no good. He figured out that the “pssst” sound I make at the animals knew they were being bad and learned to correct that behavior.
I could go on and on because truly he is so amazing. I am in awe of how I got so lucky with him. How effortless he has somehow made owning a dog feel, the help he’s been for me

I’ve got one also currently she’s in training to be a guard dog and sports one. I recommend Working with treats if toys are a no don’t be soft about it give a stern loud “NO!” And if she still does not get the message try pushing her or holding her snout and then say “no!” Or hold her teeth when she try’s to nip . Instead Redirect it when she nips as toys and praise her for it. Don’t put her in a cage after words it wont teach her if anything it would have her more excited when she’s let out and eventually shell nip at you again , Good luck!

I highly recommend finding an animal behaviorist local to you that uses positive reinforcement methods only. In the meantime make sure that your dog is kept separated from your children, and if you are having trouble finding a behaviorist do have a chat with your veterinarian who might able to offer some help. Wishing you all the best!

They are not for people who can’t train well and soon. Very active, chew alot, and nip alot. She is beautiful, and loving, but high maintenance, and need crate training.

I will tell all new owners that while the beginning will be alot of training and reenforcement, once this breed mix learns something it will never forget. Also, due to the mixture of intelligence and curiosity from either breed, they are always willing to learn new things. This is the smartest dog I’ve ever had. They will maintain their energetic personality their entire life. Even though mine is an old man now he still finds the energy between naps to go absolutely crazy playing around. Also a word to the wise at around seven or eight years be mindful of how much you let your dog run around unchecked, the strength of the spirit starts to outweigh the strength of the body in that regard and they can end up blowing out a knee or a hip. If you’re very lucky when looking for your mix pup, you’ll find a mixture of features that almost looks like its own breed. In the case of mine he has the body of a German Shepherd and the coat of one as well but has a pitbull face muscular structure and fur color. (Solid Auburn from head to toe and golden brown eyes.) And one thing I would like to add is the dogs seemingly natural paternal instinct, once well socialized, this dog makes an excellent older sibling / foster parent. A fun quirk mine had in this way was, whenever we would Foster a dog and when I got my other dog, whenever I would teach a dog commands he knew he would sit in front of them and mimed the action I wanted them to complete until they copied him. 11/10 Would find again.

Your dog possibly has worms. They live inside the dog and grow bigger by consuming the food the dog eats leaving little for the dog. They sell dewormer that kills the worm and the dog finally will absorb the nutrients from his food. research worms in dogs, good luck
