We let them run and play in the fenced in yard daily. My 5 year old female is very fast and ran into my 3 year old female and broke her neck. She died instantly. This was a terrible freak accident. Be aware that this can happen. I never dreamed this would happen while they were playing. THEY had been doing to this pretty much every day since they were born.

We have a 2 year old female GSP, Rainy. She has been such a blessing to my husband and I. He didn’t “want” a dog because he didn’t want the responsibility, but I grew up with dogs and needed one. We took her to multiple puppy training classes and socialization classes, we also sent her to beginner gun and bird training for 3 weeks (not far away because I had to be able to see her). She is the sweetest thing ever, but we treat her like our child, and walk or go run around or go to the dog park 5-7 days a week for minimum of 45 minutes. She gets groomed once a month and goes to doggy daycare during the winter a couple times a week. When she is at home with us, she LOVES to cuddle on the couch and “help” us with daily tasks. Great watchdog, only barks when she feels like we need to be warned. We have a baby coming in April, so I have been walking around and “taking care” of a baby doll and she won’t leave my side when I am holding the doll. I have no doubt that she will be a great big sister, and in the future I know we will continue having a GSP in our family!!! Just love them up, give them treats, train and exercise and they are the most AMAZING dog.

I would like to know how much to feed him, as he(Danny) dog seems to be very thin. would love some advice re feeding.. He’s too big to go to the vets, and we’ve had the vets come out a couple of times, but he doesn’t seem to like strangers. I have now got him on Muscle and joint powder and Technyflex powder for arthritics, and he can now get up and run around. it’s the food side of things that I’m concerned about. any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..

Actually, in short, no. At 10 weeks s/he is definitely still a Puppy, and so puppy food is best with its higher protein 18-22% content, nutrients for growth and flavor puppies are more likely to prefer. We have two little guys and they each prefer different food blends as certain products irritate their tummies. Remember to change over gradually to help avoid tummy upsets and loose stools.

Vet says she is healthy getting a total of 1hour of walking and playing fetch a day. She is a rescue that was born in a shelter in greece, and spent a year there before flying over to Canada to us. She lives in a 900sq ft apartment and shares her home with our 9month old son. We have had her for just under 2 years and are truly blessed. She is extremely calm and relaxed at home and gets out all her energy as soon as we go outside.
