He loves my elderly dad and me but he acts very aggressive when strangers come over and don’t know if I can train him from growling and lunging at visitors, any tips? Only had for a week he is never chained. But not sure if he will actually hurt a person

We decided to adopt a boxer puppy and found puppies for sale through a news paper advertisement. From the moment I laid my eyes on him I could not wait to take him home. This was our first pet and he changed our entire household. He was male. Eight weeks old, fawn with white markings and we named him Cuba….. with no references to the name, just seemed to suit him very well, could have been the cubic face. Then onwards he just seemed to capture the hearts of even non dog lovers. I just cannot explain the charisma that he possessed. Incredible wth my two sons. Loyal beyond words and he certainly seemed to connect with us on another level. Highly intelligent and intuitive. I never had him formally trained but he picked up on everything on his own. Of course he had a terrible puppyhood and drove us lovingly insane for the first years. But was never totally destructive. Besides a few chewable toys and my husbands BMW car key…. understandably is rubber or looks like it! In about two years on he was diagnosed with partial hip displacia. It seemed to bother him only some times if he had been overly active therefore I tried my best not to allow him to play for long periods of time and restricted his jumping around as boxers love to do. I was able to manage him well. At around five years he was diagnosed with kidney failure through a blood test. I didn’t quite believe it as I may have been in denial as he showed no signs of illness. I followed every instruction of the vet but Cuba’s condition progressed. My husband is a doctor so he was able to provide him with further medical assistance in our home where we set equipment for administering saline solution to cleanse the blood. We researched online and gathered every bit of information on how to make him feel better but we knew it was fatal. We managed his medical care and nutrition for nearly two years. He died last June. I think he only really suffered towards the last week when he just slipped fast.I was ready to say good bye. I have never felt such sorrow I am very saddened by the fact that our country does not have regulations in place to avoid random breeding of animals to make money from the sales. These innocent animals that are bred in this way suffer a lot and will die through fatal genetic illnesses I am not able to bring another dog home as I know he can never be replaced. But this is our story and the irresponsibility of our State but people in other countries are more fortunate as they are able to screen the bloodline of pets and inquirie into their lineage. If you are able to and have the facilities, adopt a boxer. its the most amazing experience you will have.

Fankly, if it’s not a boxer – then it’s just a dog. They’re the best company you could wish for. Smart, intuitive, gentle, playful, crazy. I can’t imagine life without the wiggles and the woo woos. No matter where you go – there they are! My boy Nicholas (because he wears no pants) is now an older gent at 10, but there is still that look of puppy mischief in his big brown eyes and he is always up for a game before wanting his cuddle time on the couch with his Mum.

You can request a gene test from a company called Gensol that will tell you if the lo ger coat is a rare Boxer trait or if your pup has another breed mixed in. In 60 years of breeding show Boxers I have seen some brindle with a slightly longer softer coat but never a curly or double coat.

I agree. I have a sign that says ” Beware of wiggle butts”. I love boxers! I have had 5 boxers in my life and consider them a gift from God. I currently have a gorgeous 3 year old boxer. I love her so much.

This year we decided to breed her with another boxer to which in her litter of 8 we got two brindle/fawn mix , 2 that look like the Dad, (fawn with black mask and snout) and 2 White (99%) of body is white and a couple black spots on nose and foot pads.. And this is where i need some info on.. 2 of the pups we have in that same litter have long hair than a normal boxer has.. I mean it looks like the fur from a terrier pup.. I’ve looked on-line and Not seen even one mention, let alone a pic of a boxer looking that way . Both Parents have boxer blood lines (non Papered) and their parents are pure bred also with good bloodlines …So we are kinda confused on it.. Can you Help mus with this.. If you require a pic of the pups in question feel free to contact me.

He has been a godsend for our family, especially after losing my mother 3 months after adopting him. He is simply amazing with our 7 year old son! I can’t understand how he ended up a stray and no one seemed to search for him. So intelligent and a wonderful addition to our family!

We lost 2 boxers phoebe, age 6 and mattie age 9 in 2015 and I still miss them everyday. If you want a wonderful dog,get a boxer. I will own boxer only from now on. My pups bring me so much joy, laughter and frustration, but I wouldn’t change it for the world!!
