In reply to Libby. You know these things have NOTHING TODO WITH EACH OTHER. Basically you’re saying “ My animals died of something unpreventable, so let’s go for something I could protect them from next time” Maybe, you shouldn’t have animals Libby. For their sake.

I adopted the dog who I had for a number of years, she was a happy and healthy dog of 11 years of age, I decided to get pet insurance who required upto date vaccinations, however I had read on a few Google sites that dogs over 10 shouldn’t be given vaccinations. I asked my vet who advised they should. She had a full set of vacs 4 weeks apart. Since her second dose she went downhill fast – rapid weight loss, shaking, hind leg limp, back end falling to one side, vomiting then going off food etc, I booked her in to the vets but unfortunately she did not make it to the appointment as she passed away in my arms in the waiting room! I am heartbroken. I can’t help thinking that this was caused by having the vaccinations as she was healthy at the time of having the vaccine. Should she have been given these vaccinations? In the time I had been her owner she hadn’t had vaccinations and her previous owners never said if she’d had them under their care. Could the vaccinations be the reason she died? I must also add I didn’t know until after she had them they gave her Lepto 4 which also has mixed opinions on the safety.

In reply to Libby. My Tortie still goes out from time to time to sunbathe and she never leaves the yard and I never let her stay out more than an hour or two.

I have lost 2 cats to cancer; 3 to kidney failure and my chocolate lab to cancer at 8 years old. I will no longer be vaccinating any of my animals other than my current dog getting a rabies shot and I will fight like heck to extend the time between the next one as I do not take my animals in to be seen unless necessary. My cats except for my elderly 15 year old Tortie are indoors and even the Tortie will be getting no more vaccines. My Tortie developed two surface cancers that were local and required the amputation of one of her toes and the other cancer spot was on her face and responded beautifully to a bloodroot based salve. She was being treated for liver issues and the vet gave her a course of prednisone to help with the inflammation. I believe it was the prednisone that lowered her immune system to allow these cancers to surface. She will not be getting any more steroids either. She recovered from her liver issues with liver supporting remedies like milk thistle, Sam-e, CoQ10, lecithin, and medicinal mushrooms. The vet calls her The Miracle Cat! My desire is to simply have my animals live long healthy lives without developing heart disease, kidney disease or cancer. I am giving everyone, including my old girl CoQ10 to keep their livers, hearts and kidneys healthy and I will not vaccinate.

I have a three month old shitzu and haven’t been vaccinated, but I’m observing it’s scratching it’s body but she’s is very strong and healthy..do I still need to vaccinate her?

I had a healthy kitten with a voracious appetite before I got him his rounds of jabs…all of a sudden with no warning he started vomiting his food up with regularity. I took him to the vet fearing a foriegn body as he got into everything, but there was no sign of blockage. Still he continued to have episodes. Then he started to go off food, he would refuse food for hours after vomiting, it was an almost daily struggle. Then he started vomiting blood and having bloody stool. Terrified I was back at the vet for the umpteenth time trying to figure out what was wrong, paying each time for anti sickness meds and a steroid injection. He was diagnosed with Inflammatory bowel disease, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the lining of the intestine, similar to Chrons disease in humans. Now my cat is 3 and on steroids for the rest of his (considerably shortened) life.

Please remember all: rabies is fatal for dogs and humans alike. If you live – or are taking your dog – somewhere where there’s rabies, then have your dog vaccinated. Rabies kills.

Outside the UK, encounters where there’s a risk of rabies happen far more easily than one might think. Nothing is more unpleasant than waiting while one’s child has the post-exposure shots and hoping, hoping, that the worst won’t happen.

I have a 3 year old dog who’s never been vaccinated if I want to start getting him his shots where do you start maybe a yearly booster or the series of shots from beginning like a puppy
