He was a Jack Russell/Beagle mix. Eight months later, I knew it was time. I was well into my 70s. I knew my new furry friend would have to be a little less boisterous & smaller than Skippy. We were deep into the pandemic by then. We visited our animal shelter at least twice. Most of the dogs there were pit bull mixes. I started looking at the shelter’s web page every day. One morning, there he was. “Hi, I’m Rocky. I’m awfully shy, but if you just give me a chance, you’ll find out I’m awfully nice.” The shelter advertised him as a Min Pin mix. One look was all it took to see there was some chihuahua there, too. OMG – he was so cute.

We met him the next day. He really didn’t want much to do with us, but he had said to just give him a chance. We brought him home. He cowered under the dining table. That lasted about 20 minutes. I guess he decided we were pretty okay as far as humans went. He slept under the covers with us that night & every night since.

Rocky is the smartest dog I’ve ever lived with. He & Gracie Kat are best friends. I’ve caught them kissing. Rocky takes me for walks in the neighborhood. He is also very stubborn, & I am way too easy. He’s extremely huggable. If I’m having a not so great day, Rocky can always turn it around.

Chipin, Minchi – whatever, Rocky is the world’s best dog.

My mini pincher Chihuahua mix runs like that as well. Sometimes she does it sometimes she doesn’t. It’s indicative of the breed if you read about it nothing is wrong.

Is the running bourse like or galloping ? My puppy runs like that all the time. At first I thought something was wrong with her legs since she was a rescue. Then I started reading about this mix breed and it said that running like that is one of the traits. Hope that helps!

They are indeed a special lil dog! Sending Prayers🙏

I had him since he was 7 weeks old and passed at the age of 22. I miss him so badly. It’s nice to know there are so many others with great experiences with these dogs.

Very loving, loves to be around people and prefers a soft lap to lay on over his own corner of the couch and blanket. My concern is his back left leg. Whenever he jogs, he’ll keep that leg off the ground and doesn’t use it. He just uses the other three. He also avoids that leg when running at a slow pace to medium pace. I’ve noticed that when he runs his fastest he uses that back leg. I’ve taken him to the vet twice to have it checked, first time we gave him a strong pain killer and I observed him to see if he was using that leg. He didn’t use it. The vet also did an X-Ray but didn’t see anything that stood out. If anyone else who owns a small lap dog has the same issue will you leave a reply and let me know what’s going on with your dog? Thank you!

I feel your loss. I am feeling the same way right now. If you find another, would you please tell me where? I hope you can find happiness with a new baby.

We just lost our precious Lulu. I got her at 1 day old because her mother was sick and she couldn’t nurse and the owners were too elderly to care for her. She was 7 yrs old. It seems like she was possibly poisoned but we have no idea how. We still have Abby who is chihuahua and she misses Lulu who taught her everything like how to catch and wear a frisbee with a hole in the middle around her neck, how to ride the golf cart, etc. when you saw my husband, you saw Lulu and Abby. I am just now able to talk about losing Lulu and I don’t know if I will every really get past it but we are looking for another miniature min pin/chihuahua to love and enjoy.

I had a Min Pin previously and loved her and was looking for another, I didn’t know the were crossing Min Pins with Chihuahuas until I saw our little Princess.
Well about 4 weeks ago a couple of girls had a dog that looked like a Min Pin and I struck up a conversation with them. Turned out the dog wasn’t theirs, they found him running in the road, they were taking him to the pound cause they couldn’t keep him. I took him and have been searching for his owners with no luck, he does have some minor medical issues and my vet feels he may have been dumped because of them. I’m still looking though I will keep him and get the operations he needs.
Now I’m wondering if he isn’t a chipin, though he definitely looks more Min Pin. He’s very active and has already attached to me. It’s obvious that he had very little training but is picking up things quickly.
How do you say Chipin? Is it Chee-Pin or Chi-Pin with a short sounding i? Maybe we should call them Minchis (Min-Chee).

What are you doing in dealing with her aggression! I’m having a bit of an issue with my little Chopin, 11 weeks, 3.4 lbs. Cute as a button but likes to bite, growl etc.
