Very helpful, thank you for sharing. On the green leafy veggies, how do u prepare them, which type? Broccoli? I have an 8wk chow chow and this is Day 3 together and we are getting to understand each other pretty well. Thank you.

we wash them once a month, groom them weekly, including nails etc. They grow cots behind the ears so we cut those.
Food: for 12 days of meals we cook 2 1/2 kg rice, 1 kg lentils, 500 gr of green beans, 500 gr of leafy greens, 5 eggs, three cans of mackerel, 5 eggs, one chicken deboned, two spoons of olive oil and a bit of salt. This is 2/3 of their meal the rest 1/3 is dry food.
SO we never feed them beef or pork. We have earlier experienced serious skin problems with feeding them beef, so no more.
The mother 7 yrs is a typical “lazy chow” very domesticated and happy but not very energetic. the offspring is very energetic, one (the female of 4 yrs ) runs like a rocket in the garden for 5 or 10 minutes challenging the others, the male off spring is not the running kind but responds to the challenge. Both off springs are very affectionate and come for a cuddle many times a day.
With visitors all are exited for the first few minutes sniffing and then loose interest. None of them has ever attacked or bitten anybody. In short we are happy with our Chows, pretty wel disciplined, and socialised, they are super attentive and bark at any movement outside the house/garden, typical and healthy chows with beautiful coats.

Hi you mention approx protein requirements and not to go for grain free which easy to follow. But then said to for foods with mixture of protein from other non meat sources. From what I’ve read a high meat is good, the higher the better but I’m wondering if this isn’t the ideal for a chow.
Can’t find any info you could help
