I just found out from my dog breeder that my pup I’m supposed to pick up in 2 days has an underbite, should I be concerned or ask for a discount on the price?

He has been checked out by the breeder’s vet and all that was any concern at all was a one millimeter underbite. This seems very small, but I need to know if this could lead to expensive care and/or treatment. The dog is very expensive as is without adding orthodontics! Please advise.

A friend rescued a Dachshund with a deformity that resulted in him only having half a lower jaw. He couldn’t chew and his tongue hung out all the time but he was a happy wee thing who lived to 15 years without any health problems associated with his jaw. He was also quite the lady’s man.

I have a 16 week old puppy Jack Russell with a noticeable underbite. It means he can’t chew properly and I have to give him minced meat and a diet that doesn’t require much work for him. He was the only one in the litter with the underbite and, as usual, I am a sucker for a dog with a hard luck story so I picked him. Other than his underbite he is a very healthy, very happy and playful wee bundle of trouble.

Bottom line? You got a free dog. The dog sounds like he has landed on his feet with your family so I’d just focus on the fact that his life would have been crap without your husband finding him and taking him in. Don’t worry as much. Dogs are tough little buggers.

My husband & I are un sure or confused about the new addition to our family is a dog that my husband found & just brought him to a shelter to see if he had a chip but couldn’t contact anyone that day & they said we can hold him & or keep him if no one calls to claim him(we tried to ask them simple questions, that they said I dont know or we cant say) we took him to our vet & the assistant was very helpful she checked his chip & it only had shelter info on it & no one Registered him as ower & she found out that someone reported a black SUV tossing out a white dog ( with our newly found & named dog Chewy Description) at a local park that my husband found coming out at & trying to cross a Major street so she said that has to be him, so it looked like he was ours. NO one couldn’t even take a Educated guess on or in one of the breeds the he might be & he is one year old he has like a small dog face & med. Body & legs & paws of a big dog with white Silky wavy here (a little bit of honey in his face)
What we notice was his very noticeable under bit which we think its adorable but it does concern us alot. And all the breeds that we look up with under bites was always much smaller & we even looked up mix breeds with the small dogs maybe?but we couldn’t find nothing & the only reason we want to found out at least one of the breeds he mixed with is because to see if we can get a little info & if he is not any of the breeds that normally can get the under bits then did something happen to him?? & we should getting it treated?? The vet I think is a good doctor but he just said he teeth look ok but he couldn’t even take an Educated guess on why does Chewy have a under bite???
Should we get get a 2nd opinion soon??
I know my comment & questions are long but if you can help us with any info that help his with our dog Chewy, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
